The State of Missouri is repealing its paid sick leave law and stopping minimum wage increases after 2026, under a bill that will go into effect on August 28, 2025.

On July 10, 2025, Governor Mike Kehoe signed House Bill 567 (HB 567), which removes the employer requirement to provide earned paid sick leave to employees. Employers may continue to offer employees earned paid sick leave after August 28, 2025, but they are not required to do so.

HB 567 also eliminates a provision of the state’s minimum wage law that would have required annual inflation-based adjustments to the rate starting in 2027. However, the minimum wage is still scheduled to rise to $15 from $13.75 on January 1, 2026.

For more information on the repeal, contact the Missouri Department of Labor at (800) 735-2966 or contact the Office of Governor Mike Kehoe at (573) 751-3222.
